“John-Paul designed an extension to my house which added a small downstairs WC, enlarged the kitchen and included a conservatory.  He took great care to ensure it met all my requirements, explained options available to me in the design, and gave me time and space to decide.  Environmental responsibility is important to me, and John-Paul incorporated sustainable materials into the design.  My house and garden are modest, so I was keen to make the most of all the space.  John-Paul respected this and did not flinch when I sometimes asked him to shave millimetres off the building to preserve a little bit more garden.  He would re-draft the plans in his usual good-natured and helpful fashion.  I was never charged large, extra fees for such amendments and John-Paul was habitually totally transparent in all contractual and remuneration matters. 

John-Paul was the Project Manager for the build, making regular rigorous checks as per the contract, ensuring everything went smoothly and that the build was of high quality.  His friendly but professional approach enabled him to get the very best collaboration from the builder and the resulting extension is a charming, light and airy space with utilities exactly where they are needed.

“I honestly can’t recommend The Architects Design Ltd and JP enough. We had decided to extend our fairly ordinary 70s semi and had imagined a fairly standard extension to go with it. JP came to see the house and really drilled down to what we wanted from the extension and what could be done to achieve that. He made us ask questions of our assumptions and framed his points so that we challenged them properly. What resulted was a design that, frankly, we would never have thought of but hit our brief perfectly. The crucial thing is JP was able to navigate the planning process with us, he made sure the designs went through the pre-planning process and the relevant changes were made in a way that satisfied the LA and our brief. That meant that when our planning was disputed and had to be defended at the council meeting he had done the prep work of making the changes that planning wanted and it sailed through with a unanimous decision.

JP has been working with us closely to make sure that we get the right engineer services and makes suggestions that again, we would never have thought of ourselves. Our house is sited on a quite marshy hillside and the experience of our neighbours through extensions made the idea of digging and pouring the foundations quite daunting and expensive. JP discussed with us a helical pile company as an alternative, this proved to be the exact solution we were looking for and we would never have found them or even considered it with JP.
